In the poem "Day of The Bride" by Joy Kogawa? who is the "folded paper speck" at the last line?
pls. help.
The day of the bride dawns
Through layers of white plaster skin
And multi-sashed kimono
Head made huge by lacquered hair-
She is swept ashore in her glass bottle
White and tight as a folded paper message
Eyes hidden in a swirl of green boughs.
She moves like a mannequin
Maneuvered by centuries of ceremony
Under the weight of speech and incantation
A wail of priests and watching families
Beside rows of low tables
With small triangles of paper
Congratulatory slits of squid and curls of seaweed.
Then kneeling at the end of a fresh memory
She is discarded by her heavy day
And is plunged into the twentieth century
Tiny apartment daily stream
As a barely visible
Folded paper speck
She is discarded by her heavy day
And is plunged into the twentieth century
Tiny apartment daily stream
As a barely visible
Folded paper speck
It is the bride. She is discarded… as a …. folded paper speck. In others words she is treated as a queen then sent to the ritualism of life for her.
Christians, how is it that you love God even though you cannot see him?

1 Peter 1:8
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Oh but I have seen Him. Not with my eyes. as we do as when we are living, but with my spirit, just before I was about to flat line. The heaviness of their spirits was almost crushing. Pressing in on me all around. Satan was there pressing his hooves on my throat; his sickly sweet rancid breath on my neck… I will never ever forget it. And then Christ showed up. My hero. I thought I was a goner. Seriously. No one will ever sway me from my love and belief in Christ. I assure you, He is the real deal.
Do any Christians here have (or have had) unspeakable joy?

When and how did this happen? Thanks. The Bible does tell us this is quite possible.
1 Peter 1:6-9 (KJV)
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Yes i do have such experiences. When you get filled in spirit and pray in tounges sincerely, you can have this. When you feel that Jesus and Holy spirit is also praying along with you when you pray, you can feel this.
The Bible says this is possible. Thanks.

It is possible indeed,
I’ve experienced a joy that I can’t express other than cry of great Joy.
Two kinds of time:
- When the Holy Spirit reveals to me in a very personal way how much the Father loves me! (This is just great, it is not everyday, but when he unfold his love for me to see, I am just JOYFUL - One time, I couldn’t stop crying for hours because of what he said: Toky, I LOVE YOU!)
- When the Holy Spirit reveals the mystery of his Word, not through a study nor a searching, but purely from himself at his appointed hour. At those times, I just want to wake up everyone I know, and tell them what the Spirit revealed to me! (and it makes me cry a lot how much unworthy I am to know such things, but praise be to God, that’s why Jesus redeemed me, so he can share to me what he knows!)
